Moon Rise

Aboard the International Space Station in May 2012, Expedition 31 astronaut Don Pettit opened the shutters covering the cupola observation windows in time to watch the moon rise. The time-lapse scene was photographed from the airlock of the Station's Russian segment.

Prezados amigos, após vários dias com chuva e céu encoberto, o observatório abriu suas portas e tivemos uma bela noite de Astronomia. Vários visitantes contemplaram os mais belos aglomerados celestes tais como: Caixinha de Jóias, Ômega Centauro, vários NGC nas  Constelações da Carina, Popa e Vela, Messier(M6 e M7) no Escorpião, Lua crescente e os planetas Saturno e Marte. Participaram desta noite os seguintes sócios do CEAAL: Romualdo Arthur, David Duarte, Adriano Aubert, Kizzy Resende, Roberta Dias, Rose Meire Dias e Seu Fidélis, além dos sócios iniciantes, Jeová, Sérgio Caldas, Sérgio Borba e Neftali Jr. Foram cerca de 20 visitantes, destacando-se o jovem seminarista Cláudio, D. Daia, Rosângela e D. Lucinha. O Observatório fechou suas portas as 23h00. Uma boa semana a todos.

ScienceCasts: The 2012 Transit of Venus

It won't happen again until December 2117. On June 5th, 2012, Venus will transit the face of the sun in an event of both historical and observational importance. The best places to watch are in the south Pacific, but travel is not required. The event will also be visible around sunset from the USA.
